Hades 2 Hidden Aspects Guide: How to Unlock All Six

By BrokenBuilds Wiki6 min readUpdated

TL;DR

Hades 2 has six hidden aspects, one for each Nocturnal Arm. The unlock loop is the same for every weapon: own all six weapons, unlock all three base aspects on the weapon you want the hidden aspect for, push at least one of its aspects to Rank V, then get the Waking Phrase from a specific character and pour it into the Waking Pool at that weapon's dais in the Crossroads. The character you talk to changes per weapon, and you will know they are ready when a large glowing exclamation mark floats over their head.

The gate most players miss

The hidden aspect does not show up until you have done real work on the weapon. People fixate on the phrase-giver step and skip the prerequisites, then wonder why the Waking Pool does nothing.

Here is the full checklist that has to be true before any hidden aspect can be revealed and forged:

  • You own all six Nocturnal Arms, fully acquired.
  • You have unlocked all three base aspects on the specific weapon you want the hidden aspect for.
  • You have upgraded at least one aspect on that weapon to Rank V, the maximum rank.
  • You have spoken to that weapon's associated character and received its Waking Phrase. The glowing exclamation mark over their head is your signal that they are ready to give it.

Once all four are done, interact with the Waking Pool at the center of that weapon's dais (the weapon stand in the Crossroads), apply the phrase, and pay the forging cost. That is the entire loop, repeated six times with different inputs.

The six hidden aspects at a glance

After Rank I, the upgrade path is paid in Nightmare for every weapon. Ranks II through IV cost 2 Nightmare each, and Rank V costs 3 Nightmare. Bank Nightmare early if you plan to max more than one of these.

Where to find each phrase-giver

The character who hands you the Waking Phrase is tied to the weapon, and several of them only show up in specific places.

Circe (Aspect of Anubis, Witch's Staff) lives on her island in the Rift of Thessaly, along the Surface path. You reach her by running the Surface route rather than the underworld descent.

Artemis (Aspect of the Morrigan, Sister Blades) turns up during her Hunts and in regular chambers. If you run enough, she will cross your path and offer her boons; the phrase comes once the prerequisites are clear.

Moros (Aspect of Supay, Umbral Flames) hangs around the Crossroads hub itself, which makes him the easiest of the six to corner. No run required, just check on him between attempts.

Charon (Aspect of Nergal, Moonstone Axe) shows up in Shop rooms during runs. Most runs guarantee a few shops, so this one resolves itself with normal play. Stop and check him whenever a shop appears.

Medea (Aspect of Hel, Argent Skull) is in the City of Ephyra on its southern side, again on the Surface path. Like Circe, she is a Surface-route find, not an underworld one.

Selene (Aspect of Shiva, Black Coat) appears in regular chambers during runs, not in shops or pre-boss rooms. She is tied to lunar Selene boons, so equipping her keepsake raises the odds she shows up. Run the keepsake until she appears and the phrase is ready.

What each hidden aspect actually changes

These reshape the weapon's identity rather than just bumping numbers, which is the whole reason to chase them. Treat the descriptions below as the playstyle each one points toward.

Aspect of the Morrigan (item:sister-blades) opens up the Blood Triad ritual. Land an Attack, a Special, and an Omega Move on the same target, and the triad pays off with heavy follow-up damage. It rewards target focus and rotation discipline over spray. For the full base-aspect rotation that gets you to Rank V, see our Sister Blades build guide.

Aspect of Shiva (item:black-coat) lets you absorb your own Omega Special blasts to enter a Destructive state. While Destructive, your Omega Attack hits harder. The aspect turns your Special into fuel for your Attack instead of a separate damage source. The Black Coat build guide covers the prerequisite leveling.

Aspect of Hel (item:argent-skull) converts the skull into a burst-fire weapon that plays much like the Adamant Rail from the first Hades. If you missed gun-style ranged combat, this is the closest Hades 2 gets.

Aspect of Nergal (item:umbral-flames) makes the flames auto-fire on their own, and your Omega Attack and Omega Special both supercharge that auto-fire for a few seconds afterward. It frees your hands to position while damage keeps ticking.

Aspect of Anubis (item:witch-staff) trades the staff's usual cadence for a long-range beam-style attack that can catch multiple enemies lined up in a row. It rewards reading enemy formations and angling your shots.

Aspect of Supay (item:moonstone-axe) swaps in an alternate moveset built around area damage and aggressive rush attacks, pulling the axe away from its slow baseline toward something faster and wider.

For how all six rank against the base aspects across every weapon, see the aspects tier list.

The fastest order to unlock them

If you want all six and you want them efficiently, start with the weapons whose phrase-givers need the least chasing. Moros sits in the Crossroads, so the Umbral Flames hidden aspect needs no run to set up the conversation. Charon appears in shops, which almost every run produces, so Moonstone Axe is close behind.

The Surface-path givers, Circe and Medea, want you running the Rift of Thessaly and Ephyra routes, so batch those into the same Surface attempts. Save Selene for last unless you are already running her keepsake (item:moon-beam), since her chamber appearances are the least predictable of the group.

Across all six, the real bottleneck is rarely the phrase. It is getting each weapon to a Rank V aspect and stockpiling enough Nightmare for the later ranks. Pick the weapon you actually enjoy, max one of its aspects naturally through play, and the hidden aspect will be waiting at the dais by the time you have the phrase in hand.
