Hades II Aspect Tier List (Post-Launch Patch 2)

This list ranks the 24 weapon aspects of Hades II by their post-1.0 ceiling, organized by tier and grounded in r/Hades2 32-Fear runner consensus and the verified-clear evidence behind every named meta build.

TL;DR

S tier is a five-aspect club: item:aspect-of-medea holds the unseeded 67-Fear world record, item:aspect-of-charon dominates stationary boss DPS at 50 Fear, item:aspect-of-circe is the safest 32-Fear clear in the game, item:aspect-of-eos turns the Black Coat into the strongest hidden-aspect ceiling in the meta, and item:aspect-of-melinoe-witch-staff clears 32 Fear with whatever Olympian roster the run hands it. Everything below those five is good; the five above are the ones speedrunners and high-fear marathoners actually pick.

What Makes an Aspect S-Tier

Four criteria decide the top of the list: damage ceiling, consistency at 32+ Fear, accessibility for runners who do not chase world records, and role coverage across boss-shred and room-clear. An aspect that scores high on three of those four lands in S. An aspect that scores on two lands in A.

The post-1.0 meta splits cleanly into burst archetypes that hold the speedrun records and consistency archetypes that own the high-fear marathon clears. Burst aspects (item:aspect-of-medea, item:aspect-of-charon, item:aspect-of-moros) front-load damage into one to three second windows. Consistency aspects (item:aspect-of-anubis, item:aspect-of-melinoe-witch-staff, item:aspect-of-persephone) trade ceiling for floor and rarely whiff. Six aspects of the 24 are Hidden Aspects, gated behind unlock conditions: item:aspect-of-anubis (Witch's Staff), item:aspect-of-supay (Umbral Flames), item:aspect-of-eos and item:aspect-of-selene (Black Coat), item:aspect-of-persephone (Argent Skull), item:aspect-of-the-morrigan (Sister Blades), and item:aspect-of-nergal (Moonstone Axe). Several of them carry top-tier ceilings and the unlock work pays for itself.

One side note on gods, since omega builds shape every S-tier aspect on this list: Apollo reads as a B-tier god in a vacuum, but Lucid Gain is the universal first-pick boon for Charon, Circe, Moros, and Anubis omega builds. When you see "S-tier for omega builds" attached to Apollo elsewhere on the site, that is what the caveat means.

S Tier

Aspect of Medea, Argent Skull (Revaal)

Fear ceiling: 62 Fear verified, 67 Fear unseeded WR Role: Boss-shred, speedrun Why: A 90% bonus to attack and special damage that already exists at base, so every boon set scales on top of it. The Special doubles as evasion: graze targets to deal damage while skipping their hitboxes. Hera Attack plus Zeus Special with Heaven Flourish or Blitz turns Chronos phase 2 into a sub-15-second fight.

Aspect of Charon, Moonstone Axe (Zorephet)

Fear ceiling: 50 Fear verified Role: Boss-shred Why: Pin enemies with the Cast, charge omega-special at the location, and detonate three 300-radius shockwaves for 600+ combined damage. Apollo Lucid Gain funds infinite repeat omega-casts. The strongest stationary-boss DPS in the post-1.0 meta. Avoid Vow of Forfeit; the omega-cast positioning becomes lethal without dash i-frames.

Aspect of Circe, Witch's Staff (Descura)

Fear ceiling: 32+ Fear Role: Room-clear at range Why: Spam omega-casts that drop 200-400 damage homing orbs; use attacks and specials only for status procs and repositioning. Sustains 300+ DPS without ever entering melee range. Magick-hungry, so it dies after 30 seconds without a Gain boon, but with Lucid Gain or Born Gain locked in biome 2 it is the safest first 32-Fear clear in the game.

Aspect of Eos, Black Coat (Xinth)

Fear ceiling: 50+ Fear Role: Wave-clear, scaling ceiling Why: The hidden Black Coat aspect with the highest ceiling on the weapon. Eos rewards a tight boon path with the steepest damage curve any Black Coat aspect reaches, which is why the 32-Fear runner consensus settled it at the top of the coat after the post-1.0 dust cleared. It asks for a specific scaling spine to come online, and once it does the room-clear rate outpaces every other aspect on the same weapon. Lock the keystone boon early and the run snowballs.

Aspect of Melinoe, Witch's Staff (Descura)

Fear ceiling: 32+ Fear Role: All-rounder, first high-Fear pick Why: The most flexible aspect in the game and the recommended first 32-Fear weapon. Wide hitboxes stun multiple enemies, omega-moves create space, and the strike strings work with whatever Olympians the run rolls. HackTheMinotaur reports a 70% clear rate at rank 1 before any optimization. Its value is the absence of restriction: no single missing boon kills the run.

A Tier

Aspect of Anubis, Witch's Staff (Descura)

The lowest-APM aspect in the high-Fear pool. Place persistent 30 DPS damage fields through every attack and special, drag them with the special, and let enemies walk through the zones while you focus on dodging. The persistent damage profile is the only one that holds up under Vow of Hordes plus Vow of Grit plus Vow of Wards stacked together. It trades the raw ceiling of the S-tier burst aspects for the most forgiving floor at 50+ Fear, which is exactly the trade a marathon clear wants.

Aspect of Nergal, Moonstone Axe (Zorephet)

The only aspect that self-sustains through full HP loss. Build Berserk stacks via omega-attack windups and face-tank for roughly 50 HP per second of healing at rank 5. Built for Vow of Forfeit and other vows that punish frequent dodging.

Aspect of Persephone, Argent Skull (Revaal)

Every hit deals Olympian damage on top of base, so any boon set works. Mobalytics calls the rotation finicky; the 32-Fear runners using it at high difficulty report it as one of the most forgiving aspects once the loop clicks. The latter audience matches this site's reader.

Aspect of Thanatos, Moonstone Axe (Zorephet)

Crit-stack archetype. Every Omega Move hit accumulates critical chance, so prolonged channels turn into the payoff loop. Pairs with the Night Arcana, the White Antler keepsake, and Artemis crit boons. Vow of Frenzy and Vow of Rivals break this aspect by removing crit windows.

Aspect of Selene, Black Coat (Xinth)

Locks Sky Fall Hex into the weapon and adds Shine curse to its random-target strikes. The pitch is the Path of Stars synergy: every Selene boon you pick up in the run compounds with the Moon Beam keepsake's +3/4/5/7 upgrades.

Aspect of Momus, Witch's Staff (Descura)

A staff aspect that rewards stacking a single Olympian's curse across the field. The damage curve climbs hard once the curse type locks in, and the staff's wide coverage keeps the curse spread fast. It demands commitment to one scaling line, which keeps it out of S, but the payoff at 32 Fear is real.

Aspect of the Morrigan, Sister Blades (Lim and Oros)

Strong base passive that works without a Gain boon at all. Higher floor in chaotic boon rolls than any other blades aspect. The Hidden Aspect for Sister Blades and worth the unlock if you live on the blades.

B Tier

Aspect of Moros, Umbral Flames (Ygnium)

Charge omega-special into a pack for three seconds, then mash attack to trigger five to ten stored ghost hits for 1000+ DPS bursts. The single-room burst ceiling is genuinely high, but the channel commitment is the catch: a whiffed three-second windup costs the run, and the magick tax forces a Gain anchor by biome 2 or the loop collapses. It clears 32 Fear cleanly and the burst is a highlight reel when it lands, but the execution demand and the magick dependency keep it a step below the consistency-first picks above.

Aspect of Nyx, Black Coat (Xinth)

Sprint between packs to build Omega Boost; specials and attacks split and bounce, with the Nightspawn mirroring damage for 2x effective output. Rooms clear before enemies finish their first wind-up animation. Boss damage trails the S-tier burst aspects by a wide margin, so it wants a different aspect for Chronos pushes. Eos has since taken the top Black Coat slot, which leaves Nyx as a strong wave-clear option rather than the headline coat pick.

Aspect of Pan, Sister Blades (Lim and Oros)

Auto-aim variant. Specials home in on foes and fire additional blades, shifting the weapon from precision-throw to spray-and-track. The post-Patch-2 Dancing Knives (Daedalus) pairing gives it a genuine niche: the chase pattern compounds with Pan's lock-on for a self-running multi-target loop. That niche keeps Pan off the floor, but the aspect leans hard on a specific Special-power boon path, and a missing source flattens the run. Pick it for the Dancing Knives combo or for low-friction lock-on play, not as a top-end ceiling chase.

item:aspect-of-shiva sits A-tier on some lists for niche multi-attack scaling, but the consensus B-tier placement reflects how hard it falls off without a tight boon path. item:aspect-of-hel and item:aspect-of-artemis round out the middle: solid weapons with consistent damage, but neither one threatens the top tiers in a 32+ Fear run.

The five Melinoe aspects on the non-staff weapons (item:aspect-of-melinoe-argent-skull, item:aspect-of-melinoe-black-coat, item:aspect-of-melinoe-moonstone-axe, item:aspect-of-melinoe-sister-blades, item:aspect-of-melinoe-umbral-flames) all sit B-tier. They are the default starting aspects on each weapon and they all clear 32 Fear with optimization, but the rank-up cost is better spent on one of the named S or A aspects above.

C Tier

item:aspect-of-supay is the Hidden Aspect on Umbral Flames and currently the weakest of the six unlocks. The mechanic ramps slowly compared to Moros's ghost-detonation loop, and the time spent unlocking it is better invested in ranking Moros to 5.

Hidden Aspects

Seven aspects unlock through specific in-game conditions rather than the standard rank-up path: item:aspect-of-anubis on Witch's Staff (Descura), item:aspect-of-supay on Umbral Flames (Ygnium), item:aspect-of-eos and item:aspect-of-selene on Black Coat (Xinth), item:aspect-of-persephone on Argent Skull (Revaal), item:aspect-of-the-morrigan on Sister Blades (Lim and Oros), and item:aspect-of-nergal on Moonstone Axe (Zorephet). Eos and Anubis sit at or near the top of this list, which makes those two unlocks the highest-priority chase for any player past their first 32-Fear clear.
