Keen updated the bug report, feedback, and community space links for Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. That is the whole changelog. The patch modifies no shaders, so there is no recompile on first launch, and dedicated servers do not need updating.

What it means for your build: nothing. Weapon and armor stats, skill node values, the mitigation cap, and every archetype ranking sit exactly where Update 8 left them, and so does every entry in our best builds list.

The patch that still sets the meta: Update 8, Forging the Path

Forging the Path shipped April 21, 2026 as version 0.9.1.0. It is the last time Keen touched combat numbers, and four of its changes carry most of the weight.

Damage mitigation cap raised from 60% to 80%. Heavy armor and stacked Constitution went from a cushion to a wall, which is what pushed item:tank up the ladder and put one-handed sword and shield back in the conversation with two-handed profiles. Our class tier list still runs on that order.

Skill tree rework. More than 80 skills became upgradable, 20-plus new nodes went in, cross-class paths opened, and item:double-jump-117 moved to the center of the tree. The point budget did not grow to match. Builds that used to carry a full damage cluster plus a few quality-of-life picks now have to pick one. Bow builds felt this hardest. The notes list no bow damage cut, but item:ranger leans on stacked multipliers that no longer fit in a single tree, and post-patch it takes visibly more arrows to drop the same mob.

tool:skill-tree

Focus and heavy attacks on melee. Melee weapons gained a Focus resource with weapon-specific special abilities. Heavy attacks deal double damage and apply double stun. Two-handed axes, hammers, and greatswords all got rebuilt attack chains, which reset the pre-Update-8 assumption that two-handed was the only serious melee slot.

Wand buffs. More range, 20% more durability, and a wider Fireball I explosion radius. Wands were already the efficient caster option after Update 7 gave them passive mana regeneration and let them pair with a shield. Update 8 widened the gap over staves, which are still waiting on their special ability.

The rest is systems work: gear-perk runes across armor, wards, shields, rings, pickaxes, and wood axes, split into Blacksmith, Huntress, and Alchemist lines for warrior, ranger, and mage gear; Item Sets; the Quick Stack Station and Material Catalog; the first version of Adventure Sharing with a craftable camera; enemy awareness states that let mobs occasionally dodge arrows and spells; a Springlands visual rework; class-specific meat skewers. item:updraft-165 now charges before it lifts, trading instant flight for 15% more max height, and it remains the change players complain about most.

Everything since: the Update 8 hotfix train

Four months of stabilization, no balance.

Patch Version Date What shipped

Hotfix #39 0.9.1.0 April 23, 2026 Launch-week stabilization
Hotfix #38 0.9.1.0 April 22, 2026 Launch-week stabilization
Hotfix #37 0.9.1.0 April 21, 2026 Day-of release stabilization

Patch 14 is the only one on that list worth reading twice. It corrected the item:necromancer-23 mana cost, the parry power on the item:guard-of-the-north-sword, the item level on the item:sunpiercer-shield, the Summoning Staff tooltip, and the Bow Special Ability animation. Item level decides a shield's stat rolls, so a Sunpiercer that looked underpowered before April 29 is worth pulling back out of the chest. Patch 14 also cleared an item:inner-fires-129 bug that was eating Shroud time, an item-set XP fault, an enemy stun-while-blocking bug, and a skill unlearn chain fault that could strand points.

Hotfix #41's dodge-roll fix is the other one with any feel to it. Rolling while stationary used to stutter. item:assassin and item:survivor both live on roll-cancel patterns, so both play cleaner now, though no i-frame count or frame data changed.

Update 7 is the other patch in that list that still shows up in build decisions. Giving wands passive mana regeneration and letting them sit alongside a shield is what turned item:battlemage from a curiosity into a top pick, and the jump to level 45 set the point budget that Update 8 later made so tight. Our Battlemage build guide is still built around that pairing.

What comes next

Keen confirmed on June 25, 2026 that Enshrouded exits Early Access on October 15, 2026, launching 1.0 on PC and PlayStation 5 the same day. Xbox Series X|S moves to Spring 2027, with Keen's CEO citing the PS5 and PS5 Pro quality bar as the reason for giving the port extra months. Our 1.0 release date page tracks the platform split and everything Keen has said about the launch.

Plan against that date rather than against rumors. Update 8 reordered the archetype rankings on the strength of one cap change and one tree rework, so gear farmed for today's exact numbers is the one investment worth holding loosely. Map knowledge, Flame Altar levels, and finished bases survive any patch note.

Until October 15, 0.9.1.2 is the game. When the 1.0 notes land, they lead this page.
