TL;DR

  • Enshrouded 1.0 launches Thursday, October 15, 2026. Keen Games confirmed the date on June 25, 2026.
  • PC and PlayStation 5 launch on the same day.
  • Xbox Series X|S is delayed to Spring 2027.
  • The live game is still Update 8 (Forging the Path), version 0.9.1.2. The last patch, Hotfix #42 on June 29, was localization work with no balance changes.

That leaves eleven weeks to bank the progress a version number cannot touch.

The date and the platforms

October 15 closes out nearly three years of Steam Early Access. Enshrouded opened on January 24, 2024 at version 0.7.0.0 and has run through eight numbered content updates since, ending on the 0.9.1.2 line that is live today.

PC and PS5 go up together on launch day. That matters more than a platform bullet usually does, because the PS5 audience arrives with no exposure to Flame Altar progression, shroud timers, or the skill tree, and drops straight into a world PC players have been mapping since 2024. October will be the biggest new-player wave the game has seen. Our Enshrouded beginner guide covers what that first week asks for.

Xbox Series X|S: Spring 2027

The Xbox version slips to Spring 2027. It is a delay, not a cut. Keen's CEO put the reason plainly: hit the quality bar on PS5 and PS5 Pro first, then give the Xbox port the extra months rather than rush it out alongside a version it cannot match.

If Xbox is your only platform, the practical read is that nothing about your plans changes until 2027.

Where Early Access actually stands

The current build is 0.9.1.2. Update 8, Forging the Path, landed April 21, 2026 and is the version everything on this site is tuned against. What it changed for build purposes:

  • Skill tree rework. Over 80 skills became upgradable, 20-plus new nodes went in, cross-class paths opened up, and item:double-jump-117 moved to the center of the tree. The point budget did not grow to match, so builds that used to fit their damage cluster plus a handful of quality-of-life picks no longer fit both.
  • Armor mitigation cap raised from 60% to 80%. The single biggest number change in the update. It turned stacked Constitution and heavy armor from a soft defense into a real one.
  • Focus and heavy attacks. Melee weapons gained a Focus resource and weapon-specific special abilities, and heavy attacks now land double damage and double stun.
  • Two-handed attack chains rebuilt for axes, hammers, and greatswords.
  • Wand buffs. More range, 20% more durability, and a wider Fireball I explosion radius.
  • Gear-perk runes across armor, wards, shields, rings, pickaxes, and wood axes, plus Item Sets, the Quick Stack Station, and the first version of Adventure Sharing.

Since then: Patch 14 and Hotfixes #40, #41, and #42. Crash fixes, a dodge-roll stutter fix, and translated support links. No balance pass since April.

What to bank before October 15

Enshrouded progression splits into two categories, and only one of them is exposed to a version number changing.

Collection progression is safe. These are things the world hands you for showing up, and they are not balance dials:

  • The 96 skill points sitting in the world. Levels 1 through 45 give you 88 points. Shroud Roots and Exiler Wells hold 96 more, which is the majority of the 184-point total. Sweeping them is map knowledge, and map knowledge does not get rebalanced.
  • Flame Altar level 9. Every Strengthen the Flame level past the first gives +1 to all six attributes and +1 minute of Shroud Time. At item:flame-altar-level-9 that is +8 to Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Endurance, Spirit, and Intelligence at once, plus 13 minutes in the shroud. It is the largest flat stat block available to any character and it costs materials, not gear luck.
  • Your base. Anything inside the altar radius is permanent; anything outside it resets. Pushing altar coverage to its widest tier, 160 voxels on a side, costs five Shroud Nexus. A finished base is a finished base on either side of launch.
  • Quest progression and crafter recipes. Advanced gear is gated behind NPC unlocks, not drops. Doing that work now means walking into 1.0 with the recipe list already open.

Tuning-exposed progression deserves a second thought. Farming a third full endgame set built around today's exact numbers is the one investment worth weighing. Every major update in this game's history has moved combat math. Update 7 gave wands passive mana regeneration and let them pair with a shield, which is the change that made item:battlemage a top pick. Update 8 raised the mitigation cap and rebuilt the tree, which is the change that knocked the bow off the top slot it had held through Update 7. Committing dozens of hours to a min-maxed set on the assumption that the 0.9 numbers survive a jump to 1.0 is a bet, and it is a bet you do not have to place to keep playing.

One thing that is not a risk: your skill tree. Respeccing at the Flame Altar costs one Rune per point refunded, which makes the tree the cheapest decision in the game to reverse. Play the build you want now.

What is worth playing right now

At 0.9.1.2, the top of the ladder looks like this:

Wand Wizard has the most efficient damage profile in the game after the Update 8 wand buffs, with Eternal Fireball still holding the AoE ceiling. The item:wizard has no defense and no sustain, and one bad position in a dungeon shroud zone kills you.

Battlemage is the safe S pick. Wand plus Ward gives you passive mana regeneration and a block, and the 80% cap finally pays off the Constitution stack the archetype always wanted.

Tank climbed on that same 80% cap. It has the slowest solo damage in the game and it is still the first invite in any group.

Ranger dropped out of the top tier. The reworked tree leaves fewer points for the stacked multipliers the bow depends on, and arrows take noticeably longer to put a mob down. The item:ranger still works, it just plays for safe range instead of fast kills.

The full ranking sits in our Enshrouded class tier list, and the skill orders and gear behind each pick are in Best Enshrouded Builds 2026.

If you plan to host for the PS5 crowd in October, get the base finished and an Adventure Sharing upload ready before launch week.
