Tainted Grail Patch Notes: Every Update Through 1.25

What version 1.25 added, what it means for archers and casters, and every patch back to launch.

By BrokenBuilds WikiUpdated

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is on version 1.25, live since July 20, 2026. It arrived with the free Bonus Content #4 drop, and it is the largest addition to ranged and caster gear since the 21-weapon pack in March: seven bows, five wands, two armor sets built around scaling rules you have to build into, and a fifth romance that opens on a property deed.

Every version is below, newest first, with the parts that change how you build called out.

Version 1.25 (July 20, 2026)

Seven bows and five wands, all sold in Cuanacht

Osmond, in Cuanacht Main Square, stocks the new bows at 4,000 gold each: The Green Chapel, Morrigan's Wings, Orchard Warden, The Dolorous Shot, Whiteout, Perilous Dawn, and Gilded Adder. Every one asks for 6 item:strength, 10 item:dexterity, and 4 item:endurance, so a Dexterity archer already clears the hard requirement and needs a handful of Strength points for the rest.

Bonxie works the same square and sells five wands at 2,000 gold each: the Applewood Wand, The Kindling Palm, The Wicker Bride, The Pale Reflection, and The Light Of Corbenic. The gate is 10 item:spirituality, which any caster passes long before the gold adds up.

Both vendors want coin rather than progress, so a mid-game character with a full purse can leave Cuanacht carrying a weapon upgrade.

Two armor sets with real build consequences

The Scalesong Set scales your ranged damage off your armor value, which inverts the standard archer that stays Light for the extra Dash and the quiet footsteps. Scalesong wants weight on you, and it pays for the weight by cutting the damage you take while aiming and speeding your draw once you are heavy. Treat it as a second archer rather than an upgrade to the first. Half a set carries too little armor to move the scaling while still costing you the third Dash. Our archer build guide covers the Light-armor version it competes with.

The Dolorous Pilgrim Set applies Bleed, raises your Bleed damage, and scales your spell power with Bleed stacks. Open with a bleed, keep it running, and every spell after the first lands harder while the target is still losing blood. A blade-heavy Battlemage spends too many turns swinging to hold that stack up, so take the set only if your rotation already opens with spells. The Battlemage and Spellsword guide covers the casting-first version of that kit.

The fifth romance

Buy a house in Cuanacht and the neighbor beside it takes a romantic interest in you. Gold is the whole gate, with no questline to unlock first and no earlier affection check to fail. It is the only romance in the game that runs on your purse instead of your dialogue history. The other four are in our romance guide.

Balance, fixes, and options

  • Challenge Mode: the Fractured Guard debuff now discards after any attack, and a new debuff joins the NG+ pool.
  • item:toxic-dart applies Poison on hit, which it had not been doing.
  • The infinite-damage loop between Faltering Strikes and Best Offense is closed.
  • An Ultra+ graphics preset sits above the old ceiling.
  • Quick save and quick load are rebindable, and the low-health vignette and crosshair are now toggleable.
  • Fixes for a skin-change error and for Challenge Mode reset and localization bugs.

Melee kits went untouched. Two-handed, dual-wield, sword-and-shield, assassin, and summoner all play exactly as they did on 1.23b, so 1.25 is a shopping trip for archers and casters and a graphics preset for everyone else. Our class and build tier list comes out of 1.25 unchanged.

Version 1.23b (June 3, 2026)

One fix. The Electric Golem in the endgame dungeon could hold its invulnerability shield forever and soft-lock the encounter. No numbers moved, no items changed.

Version 1.23 and the anniversary drop (May 23, 2026)

The one-year anniversary update carried the last balance pass before 1.25.

  • Sanguine Sting health cost rose from 5 to 10, and its bleed now scales with Arrow Draw Strength. Bleed archers gained a reason to hold the draw rather than spam quick shots.
  • Challenge Mode rebalanced Recurring Threat, Seek and Destroy, and Corpsewake.
  • The Frozen Seer's Vestment crash was fixed.
  • New gear arrived: the Spellflow Wand, the Trailshot Bow, and the Summon Sir Lancelot spell.

Hotfix 1.23a followed on May 28 with journal, stash, and cutscene fixes.

The cadence

Questline has kept a roughly six-week rhythm through 2026: the 1.20 balance pass in March, 21 weapons two weeks later, Merlin's Tomb in April, Challenge Mode and the anniversary drop in May, and Bonus Content #4 in July. Every one since the December expansion has been free, so 1.25 costs you nothing beyond the gold you hand to Osmond and Bonxie.
