Unforgettable Quest Guide
Unforgettable is a quiet tragedy that starts on the Island Asylum and ends in Cuanacht, and the choice it leaves you with is about mercy rather than loot. You uncover the truth about a woman named Katrin and carry it to her widower, Erfyr. How you tell him decides whether he grieves or rages. This guide covers the letter, the cell key, Katrin's story, and both outcomes of the choice at the end.
Finding the Old Letter
The quest begins with an unsent letter. On the Island Asylum, you need to recover Katrin's Old Letter, and it is locked away. To get the key, loot the corpse of the Red Priest for the cell key, then use it to open the locked chest holding the letter. Once you have the Old Letter, you have the thread that pulls the whole quest forward.
Katrin's story
The letter and the surrounding pieces tell you what happened to Katrin. She died in childbirth, and she died as a victim of the mad Red Priest who ran the asylum. The Old Letter she never managed to send is the last thing she left behind, addressed to the husband she never got to say goodbye to. That husband is alive, and he does not know how she died or that the letter exists. Delivering that truth is the heart of the quest, and it is what gives the choice at the end its weight.
Delivering the truth to Erfyr in Cuanacht
Katrin's husband, Erfyr, is in Cuanacht. The quest resolves there, but there is a sequencing note worth knowing: you reach the part of the quest with Erfyr after the quest "Change of Heart." So if you have the Old Letter in hand but cannot move the quest forward in Cuanacht yet, that is the gate you are waiting on. Once you can speak to Erfyr, you bring him what you learned about his wife.
That conversation is where the quest asks you to decide how honest you are.
The choice: how you tell Erfyr
When you deliver the truth to Erfyr, you choose between two things to tell him about the letter. Each lands differently.
Tell him you lost the letter in the storm
Say the letter was lost in the storm and Erfyr grieves. He takes the loss with sorrow rather than anger, and he gives you a Health Ring as thanks for bringing him the truth about Katrin even without the letter itself. This is the gentler path, and it is the one that keeps the conversation, and Erfyr, on good terms with you.
Tell him you gave it to Brother Riagan
Say you gave the letter to Brother Riagan and Erfyr turns furious. The news that his late wife's last words went to a churchman instead of to him ends the conversation cold. He shuts you out rather than thanking you.
Which should you pick?
If you want the cleaner outcome and the Health Ring, tell Erfyr the letter was lost in the storm. He grieves but stays grateful, and you walk away with the reward and his goodwill. Saying you handed it to Brother Riagan only earns his anger and closes the conversation, so there is little upside to it unless you are roleplaying a character who would tell that particular truth. The quest pays out around 100 XP plus the Health Ring, with the ring tied to the storm answer.
Branching into The Word is Silent
Unforgettable does not fully close the asylum thread. It branches into The Word is Silent, the follow-up that picks up the Brother Riagan side of the story. If you grabbed the Letter to the Prior on the Asylum Island, that quest sends you to find Riagan in the Horns of the South to confront the church's role. Unforgettable is the emotional opener; The Word is Silent is where the institution behind Katrin's death gets its reckoning.
