Tainted Grail: The Last Voyage Quest Guide

The Last Voyage is a Cuanacht side quest that sends you down to a sunken ship to recover a figurine for the library keeper. Elaine wants the wreck of the Andraste found and a Menhir-like figurine pulled out of it. You explore the wreck and Castaway Cave, kill the Tidepiercer, and bring the figurine back. It is a linear quest with no branching choice, and finishing it pays around 1,000 XP and unlocks the follow-up As Good as Gold.

Here is the route from Elaine's request to the Tidepiercer, plus a few things worth sorting out before you go for a swim.

Elaine's request

Elaine is the library keeper, and she wants the sunken Andraste located and a figurine recovered from it. The figurine resembles a Menhir, which is what makes it worth retrieving and ties it to the ancient-rite theming that runs through Cuanacht. Elaine cares about the figurine for what it represents, not for treasure, so this is a quest about recovering knowledge as much as an object. Take the quest from her and head for the water.

Prepare for the water

The Last Voyage is one of the few quests that has you spending real time underwater and along the shoreline, so it pays to gear up for it before you set out. Air is the limiting factor in any sunken section, and the game has a clean answer for players who lean on magic: at full entity:mana-shield capacity, all incoming damage converts to mana damage instead of health damage, and that extends to drowning. If you can keep your mana topped up, a heavy Mana Shield investment lets you ignore the air timer entirely and explore the wreck at your own pace. Melee and stealth builds without that option should still travel light, because a lighter encumbrance means more dash charges and faster movement, which makes the swim and the dive far less punishing.

Explore the wreck and Castaway Cave

The Andraste went down, so the search takes you into the sunken ship and through Castaway Cave. Work through both areas to track down the figurine. The wreck and the cave are the meat of the quest, an underwater and shoreline crawl that leads you toward the figurine and the creature guarding the way. Sweep both thoroughly. Cuanacht's water routes tend to hide loot in side pockets, and a careful pass through the Andraste and the cave is the only chance you get at whatever the wreck holds before the quest closes.

Defeat the Tidepiercer

The Tidepiercer is the quest's boss and the obstacle between you and finishing the job. Beat it to clear the path and secure the figurine. Fight it on ground you control rather than mid-swim if you can, since fighting in open water strips away the positioning and dash spacing most builds rely on. With the Tidepiercer down and the figurine in hand, the dive is done.

Rewards and what unlocks next

Return to Elaine to wrap up The Last Voyage. The quest rewards roughly 1,000 XP, and it has no choice to make along the way, so there is no wrong path to walk here. Completing it unlocks As Good as Gold, the follow-up quest, so The Last Voyage is the gate to more of Elaine's content. Run it when you want a self-contained dive with a clean reward and a thread that keeps going.
