Kibellah Romance Guide

Gender lock: Any gender. Kibellah, the Void Shadows DLC companion, can be romanced by a male or female Rogue Trader alike.

TL;DR: Kibellah's romance opens during the errand "Ritual of Binding" in the Void Shadows DLC. Treat her as a person rather than a weapon, choose the options that try to understand her, and carry the thread through her Companion Quest "Rituals of the Upper Decks" to the kiss.

The short version

entity:kibellah comes from the Void Shadows DLC, and her romance has a clear through-line. She has been raised and used as a tool, and your job is to show her she is a person. Teach her about her own feelings and her own worth, and the relationship grows. Her dialogue is very black and white, which works in your favor: the romance-positive options are easy to spot once you know what you are looking for.

A note on conviction: some players report that romancing Kibellah shifts her alignment, drifting her from Dogmatic toward Iconoclast or Heretic through the choices you make together. That is a consequence of the path, not a gate. You do not need a particular conviction to begin.

Where it starts

The romance begins during the errand "Ritual of Binding." That errand kicks off automatically as you move between systems after you finish the DLC's first quest, "To Become the Flagship's Blood." entity:kibellah pledges herself to the von Valancius dynasty as part of the DLC storyline, and the romance opportunity follows.

Romance steps

The guiding principle. Across every conversation, treat entity:kibellah as a human being and not a tool or a weapon. Teach her about her feelings and her value, and the right dialogue choices will feel obvious.

Errand "Ritual of Binding." After the ceremonial fight with her, the dialogue gives you the chance to understand her. Choose, in order:

  • "Can you tell me what this really was? What is the true meaning of this rite?"
  • "I only seek to understand why this matters to you, to understand you."
  • "My rituals? What do you mean?"
  • "Would you like to see my world, Kibellah? You have allowed me to witness your ritual, it is only fair that I show you one of mine."

Her Companion Quest, "Rituals of the Upper Decks." This quest starts next and takes her to a high-society party. If it does not trigger right away, travel between systems a couple of times and it will. The party is the heart of the romance, and the choices come in a specific order:

  • "I see you have found a delicacy that is to your liking?"
  • "How do you like the ceremonies on the upper decks?"
  • "Camaraderie. Spending all your days in toil can be... dreary."
  • "How are you?"
  • Give Danrok a pointed look, or pass the Coercion or Persuasion check.
  • "Would you be willing to learn one of the rituals of high society, dancing?"
  • "[Passionately wrap your arm around Kibellah's waist.]"
  • "Thank you for these moments."
  • "I am intrigued to see the real you, without your spinner's mask."
  • "I get the feeling that this soiree was a terrible mistake."
  • "I grow weary of the crowd. Take a walk with me."
  • "I have come to value your company."
  • "[Step closer] That sounds promising."
  • "[Kiss Kibellah]"
  • "I want to stay with you, somewhere private."

Follow that sequence and the romance lands the kiss and the private moment that close out the party.

Easy to start, hard to keep

Kibellah's romance is one of the simpler ones to begin and one of the easier ones to lose. Players warn that she will confront you over philandering after events in Chapter 4, telling you in plain terms that it is your fault you ended up in Commorragh. If you have been keeping other romances alive on the side, expect her to call it out. Commit to her and stay committed, or the relationship sours once she has had enough.

Exclusivity

The base-game rule is firm: you can pursue more than one retinue romance until the quest The Lord Inquisitor and The Lord Captain, then you choose one. Kibellah's confrontation over your wandering eye lands well before that point, so even while the game technically still allows multiple flames, she will not tolerate sharing once Chapter 4 turns. Treat her as the one early, and she stays.

Once you have her loyalty, build her Death Cult assassin kit with our Kibellah build guide, see where she ranks in the companion tier list, and compare her against the other flames in the romance guide.
