Idira Build Guide

entity:idira is the party's first dedicated psyker, and she ends the game as one of the strongest characters you can field. Spec her into offensive warp damage early, then pivot her into control and support as her Psy Rating climbs. The payoff late game is entity:rewind-time, an ability that undoes the damage an ally just took.

Who Idira Is

Idira joins in the prologue with a fixed entity:operative archetype and the Unsanctioned Psyker origin. That combination is what makes her tick. The Operative chassis gives her the precision-stat backbone and the analyse-and-exploit toolkit every Operative shares, while the psyker layer hands her the warp disciplines that carry the build. She cannot change her archetype, so every planning decision sits inside the talent and discipline choices on top of that frame.

The unsanctioned part matters. A entity:sanctioned-psyker carries the Emperor's blessing and a twenty percent lower chance to trigger psychic phenomena. Idira has neither. Every power she casts pulls harder on the Veil, and when the Veil tears, the table pays for it.

Stat Priority

Build Idira around two things: the casting stat for the discipline you commit her to, and Perception for the Operative chassis underneath. Perception drives her accuracy and feeds the Operative weak-point and exploit mechanics, so it never goes to waste even on a turn where she is casting rather than shooting. Once you have settled on a discipline, pour her characteristic points into the casting stat first, since that number scales the warp damage and control effects that define her output.

Raise her Psy Rating as you level. Psy Rating gates which powers she can reach and how hard they land, so the Psy Rating talents are the spine of her progression. The higher the rating, the deeper into a discipline she can push.

Early Game: Offensive Warp Damage

Idira opens as the party's primary offensive psyker. Through the early and mid game her job is warp damage, plain and direct. She picks a destructive discipline, leans on it, and clears chip damage and softer targets while your front line holds. This is the weakest stretch of her whole arc. Her numbers stay modest, her body stays fragile, and the Perils risk bites hardest relative to the output she is putting out.

Push through it. The early offensive phase is the cost of admission for what she becomes. Keep her behind the front rank, let her sling warp damage when the shot is clean, and bank the experience that lifts her Psy Rating toward the powers that matter.

Late Game: Control, Support, and Rewind Time

Idira's ceiling is high, and you only see it once her Psy Rating climbs. The offensive caster from the early game grows into a control and support engine that bends entire encounters. Her late-game kit shifts away from raw damage toward locking enemies down and propping up your own party, which is where she stops being a liability and starts being a centerpiece.

The standout is entity:rewind-time. It undoes the damage an ally just took, turning a near-fatal hit into a hit that never happened. Damage prevention this clean is rare, and it ranks among the best defensive tools in the entire roster. A carry who would have dropped to a lucky crit stays standing; a tank chunked through their toughness gets the health back. On the hardest difficulty, where one bad round can end a run, that cooldown alone is reason to keep Idira in the active party.

This is the classic weak-early, dominant-late wizard. She demands patience through the opening hours and repays it many times over once the powers come online.

The Perils of the Warp

Idira's unsanctioned status is the price tag on her power. Without the sanctioned origin's twenty percent reduction to psychic phenomena, she triggers Perils of the Warp more often than a trained Imperial psyker would. Perils can backfire on Idira herself or wash across the party, so heavy casting on a fragile body carries real downside.

Manage it rather than fear it. Spread her casting across a fight instead of dumping every power in a single turn, and keep her toughness and positioning honest so a phenomenon does not catch her at low health. The risk never disappears, but a disciplined player turns it into background noise rather than a run-ender. The reward, a caster who prevents death outright and controls the battlefield, is worth the gamble every time.

Party Fit

Idira slots into almost any composition because her value is layered. The early offensive damage covers a gap while your carries come online, the mid-game control smooths out crowded fights, and the late-game Rewind Time protects whichever character you have invested the most into. Pair her with a front line that can hold aggro off her, and let her work from the back rank where the Operative accuracy and the warp powers both reach.

She also rewards an entity:officer in the party. The action-economy buffs an Officer hands out let Idira fire off more of her powers per round, and more casts means more chances to land the control and support effects that make her late game so dominant.

For a sense of where she lands against the rest of the roster, see the companion tier list. To go deeper on the warp disciplines that carry her, the psyker build guide breaks down the Sanctic and Biomancy lines in full.

Bottom Line

Idira is a long-term investment that pays out late. Build her on the casting stat and Perception, push her Psy Rating high, accept a soft early game, and respect the Perils risk that rides along with the unsanctioned origin. Get her to the back half of the campaign and she becomes a control caster with the best damage-prevention button in the game. Few companions reshape a fight the way a fully realized Idira does.
