Heinrix van Calox Romance Guide

Gender lock: female Rogue Trader only. Heinrix responds to a woman bold enough to pursue him; a male Lord Captain cannot romance him.

TL;DR: The romance opens in Chapter 1 right after you defeat Aurora, in the quarters scene where Heinrix offers help. Reciprocate his interest, lean into physical-touch options, and favor Dogmatic answers when he is in the party.

The character you are courting

entity:heinrix Heinrix is an Inquisitorial agent who keeps a wall up between himself and everyone around him. The romance is about a woman getting past that wall. He values being seen as the man behind the role rather than as the Inquisition's instrument, and the choices that work are the ones that show you have noticed the person under the duty.

Opening the romance

There are two entry points, both in the early game.

The first comes in Chapter 1, immediately after the quest where you meet and defeat Aurora. A scene plays out with entity:heinrix Heinrix in your quarters, where he offers his help. In that conversation, choose "You misunderstand me. I am not unnerved by your status, but by you personally." That line is the start of the romance. It tells him your interest is in him, not in what he represents, which is exactly the distinction he cares about.

The second is on the bridge after the quest Gleam of the Final Dawn. If you want to open or continue the thread there, reciprocate his interest: ask him whether he ever feels lonely, then tell him you can keep him company if he wants it. The bridge route works as an alternate start and as a way to keep momentum going.

Keeping it alive

Three habits move entity:heinrix Heinrix's romance forward. Choose dialogue options that do not make him look bad in front of others, because his standing matters to him. Take the options tied to physical touch when they appear; unlike some companions, he welcomes them rather than recoiling. And select Dogmatic answers when he is present, since his loyalties run along Imperial lines and he reads conviction as character.

The deeper goal across all of it is to see through the facade he puts up. Heinrix is performing competence and control. The Lord Captain who notices the strain underneath, and answers it without mockery, is the one he opens up to.

A practical warning about his absences

entity:heinrix Heinrix does not stay in the party the whole game. He joins in Chapter 1 during Looking for Trouble, then leaves at the start of Chapter 2 and does not rejoin until the end of the quest Tattered Spirit. Plan around the gap. You cannot advance his romance while he is away, so pick up the thread again as soon as he returns.

One more thing worth knowing about his motives: Heinrix approaches the relationship partly as political strategy and seeks marriage in those terms. It colors how he frames the courtship, and it fits the man.

The point where you must choose

You can pursue several romances at once through the early and middle game. The quest The Lord Inquisitor and The Lord Captain ends that freedom. From there you commit to one love interest and the rest close. If entity:heinrix Heinrix is your choice, have his romance on solid footing before that quest, especially given the Chapter 2 stretch where he is out of the party.
