Mewgenics Launch Patch (1.0): What Shipped on February 10, 2026
The launch feature set, build impact, and tier list status as of April 2026.
What Changed
Mewgenics launched February 10, 2026, ending fifteen years of on-and-off development from Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel. Version 1.0 dropped on Steam at full price with no early access window. The game shipped at "Very Positive" review status (91% across the first 24,000+ user reviews) and has held that rating into April.
The 1.0 build contains the complete launch feature set:
- 14 character classes (5 starter collars: Fighter, Hunter, Mage, Tank, entity:collarless; 9 unlockable: entity:cleric, entity:thief, entity:necromancer, entity:tinkerer, entity:butcher, Druid, entity:psychic, Monk, Jester)
- 1000+ unique abilities, with roughly 75 per class
- 900+ items in the equipment and consumable pool
- 200+ enemies and bosses across the adventure locations
- 707 mutations and 53 birth defects in the breeding system
- The full 7-stat genetics system (STR, DEX, CON, INT, SPD, CHA, LCK) with datamined inheritance formulas
- The 5-stat house system (Appeal, Comfort, Stimulation, Health, Mutation) controlling breeding outcomes
- Adventure locations including Alley, Sewers, Boneyard, Bunker, Core, Crater, Moon, Lab, and Rift
- Roughly 200 hours of campaign content per the developer's launch description
There are no balance changes to report because there is no previous patch to compare against. This is the launch state of the game.
Build Impact
Because every build target listed on BrokenBuilds is based on the launch version of the game, no archetype is invalidated by the 1.0 release. The breeding formulas, class stat modifiers, and inheritance probabilities all reflect the version players are running.
A few notes on what the launch state means for current build planning:
Breeding formulas are stable. The datamined inheritance equations from SciresM's extraction match the live game. Any breeding chain that worked in the early-access community testing also works in retail. The 32-Stimulation guarantee for first active ability inheritance is the foundational number that build chains anchor on.
Class collar selection is final for this patch. All 14 collars are available from launch (5 immediately, 9 behind adventure clears). No class is locked behind future content drops. The community tier list reflects the full roster.
Mutation pool is complete. All 707 mutations and 53 birth defects shipped with 1.0. There is no expansion of the pool planned for the immediate post-launch window, which means breeding strategies that target specific mutations (Extra Leg, entity:head-exposed-brain, Extra Tail) can plan against a fixed catalog rather than a moving target.
No balance hotfixes through April 2026. The Steam patch history page shows no balance updates between launch and the date of this snapshot. Bug fixes and quality-of-life changes have shipped, but no class or item has been buffed or nerfed. The entity:cleric+Fighter pairing that hit 90% win rates in community-tracked runs at launch still hits that number now.
Updated Tier Lists
The Mewgenics class tier list on BrokenBuilds reflects the launch state. No tier movements have happened because no balance patches have shipped.
The current S-tier classes are entity:cleric, Tank, and Hunter. A-tier holds entity:butcher, entity:psychic, and Fighter. B-tier covers Mage, Druid, and entity:necromancer. C-tier holds entity:thief, Jester, and Monk. D-tier sits entity:tinkerer and entity:collarless. See the full Mewgenics Class Tier List for the per-class reasoning.
The next time this page updates is when the developers ship a balance patch or when the community meta shifts on its own. Both teams (McMillen and Glaiel) have stated post-launch support is planned but have not committed to a content roadmap. The next meta-relevant change is most likely to come from the community discovering an interaction the launch tier lists missed, not from a balance pass.
For the breeding chain that produces god-roll versions of the launch tier list's top picks, see the Mewgenics Breeding Guide.
