Hades II Daedalus Hammer Tier List (Post-Launch Patch 2)

The Daedalus Hammer pool spans 47 distinct rewards split across the six weapons of Melinoe's arsenal. Each weapon carries its own subset; a Witch's Staff hammer never appears on the Sister Blades, and a Moonstone Axe pick never shows up on the Black Coat. The rankings below treat the post-Patch-2 meta as the baseline and rank each hammer by how cleanly it slots into the named build that wants it.

How Hammers Work

Daedalus offers one hammer per Cyclops or Wretched Broker encounter, with two of three options visible. The Lambent Plume keepsake rerolls the offered set once per appearance, which is the only way to chase a build-defining pick that didn't roll naturally. Some hammers are mutually exclusive at a base-mechanic level (any hammer that rewrites your attack locks out a second attack-rewriting option later), so the order you collect them in matters as much as which ones you take. A run that grabs the wrong hammer in Erebus can quietly cap its Olympus damage ceiling.

Per-Weapon Tier Lists

[[witch-staff|Witch's Staff (Descura)]]

The staff carries two distinct meta builds, and the right hammer depends on which one you're driving toward.

S-tier: Pom-scaling cast hammers. At rank 5 they double cast size, which is the load-bearing hammer slot for the Aspect of Circe Always-Be-Casting build. Doubled radius doubles overlap on the homing orb pile, which scales the [[witch-staff|staff]]'s 200-400 damage cast directly into 400-800 territory once the orbs stack. [[double-moonshot|Double Moonshot]] is the Anubis pick of the same caliber, scaling field radius for the zoning playstyle.

A-tier: [[shimmering-moonshot|Shimmering Moonshot]] for Anubis runs that take the Apollo legendary path; [[extending-wallop|Extending Wallop]] when the run pivots through Special-on-hit boons.

Skip: Channel-extending hammers cut the cast count per minute on Circe, which is the wrong tradeoff. The build wins on cast frequency, not cast duration.

[[sister-blades|Sister Blades (Lim and Oros)]]

Patch 2 reshaped this weapon, and Aspect of Pan now sits closer to the meta than it has at any point since launch.

S-tier: Dancing Knives. The post-Patch-2 game-changer for Aspect of Pan and the headline reason to pick the blades into a wave-clear vow.

A-tier: Volatile Array. Slots cleanly into any blades build that leans on Special damage rather than attack damage.

Skip: Single-target boost hammers. The blades' ceiling is in their crowd-clear breadth, not their per-hit numbers; trading away cleave for a bigger single number fights the weapon.

[[umbral-flames|Umbral Flames (Ygnium)]]

The Aspect of Moros Ghost-Detonation build wants three specific hammers, and the order you find them in decides whether the run hits 1000+ DPS bursts or stalls at 600.

S-tier: [[clean-helix|Clean Coil]] (extends the omega-channel by 50%, giving you a wider AoE window for storing ghost hits), Sudden Burst (windup +50%, which sounds like a slow-down but actually packs more burn ticks per detonation), Furious Blaze (+200% burn on detonations, the multiplier that turns 5 stored ghost hits into a full pack-clear).

A-tier: [[triple-helix|Triple Helix]] when the run is leaning into raw projectile count rather than the Moros omega path.

Skip: Any hammer that shrinks the omega-channel AoE. The Moros payload depends on parking the channel inside a packed room; a smaller channel means fewer enemies inside it when the ghost hits trigger.

[[moonstone-axe|Moonstone Axe (Zorephet)]]

Two builds, two hammer profiles. The axe is the slowest weapon in the roster and the hammer slot mostly exists to cut that tax.

S-tier: [[giga-cleaver|Giga Cleaver]]. The dual-omega combo is the entire Charon Axe Omega-Cast Launcher build; without it, the launcher loses its repeat-fire identity and Chronos phase 2 takes twice as long. Sudden Cleaver pairs as the faster-channel pick when Giga Cleaver doesn't roll.

A-tier: [[psychic-whirlwind|Psychic Whirlwind]] is the Berserk uptime engine for the Aspect of Nergal Berserker Lifesteal build; Dashing Heave covers movement-speed gaps the axe normally can't fix.

Skip: Slow-swing-amplifier hammers. The axe is already the slowest weapon in the game, and adding more weight to the swing crosses the line from "patient" to "useless on packed waves."

[[argent-skull|Argent Skull (Revaal)]]

The skull is the speedrun weapon, and its hammer pool is read through the Aspect of Medea lens.

S-tier: Volatile Array. Every Medea build wants it; the bonus stacks on top of the aspect's built-in 90% Attack and Special damage modifier, which is already a multiplier on whatever boon set you assemble. Colossus Driver is the next pick when offered, scaling the special into reliable 600+ damage breakpoints.

Skip: Lunge-modifying hammers break Medea's graze timing. The whole aspect runs on barely-grazing enemies to deal damage while ducking their hitboxes; any hammer that rewrites the lunge geometry destroys that timing window. AoE-shrinking options are equivalent run-killers on Persephone runs.

[[black-coat|Black Coat (Xinth)]]

The coat's verified meta picks center on the Aspect of Nyx Nightspawn Wave-Clear build, where the priority is preserving the splitting and bouncing identity rather than rewriting it.

S-tier: Shimmering Rockets. The off-screen 300 DPS payload that lets Nyx clear rooms before enemies finish their first wind-up animation. Siege Frame is the defensive padding that makes Vow of Forfeit runs survivable on a build that otherwise asks you to face-tank between sprints.

A-tier: Hammers that preserve the splitting and bouncing identity, especially on Nightspawn-mirroring rooms where every additional bounce doubles into the duplicate's hit count.

Skip: Any hammer that reworks the basic attack into a single-target combo. The coat's wave-clear ceiling lives in the multi-target splits; collapsing that into a single-target string drops Nyx out of S-tier and into the also-rans.

How to Pick a Hammer in a Run

Take the build-defining hammer first, even if the second offer looks tempting. The Circe pom-cast pick or the Charon Giga Cleaver isn't a luxury; it's the load-bearing slot the rest of the boon set scales through. Reroll for it via Lambent Plume if the first Cyclops offer misses.

Skip lateral picks unless your build wants two reroll-quality hammers stacked. A second hammer that doesn't multiply the first one is wasted Daedalus inventory; the slot is better empty than filled with a sidegrade. The cleanest runs end with two synergistic hammers and one empty slot, not three average ones.
