Hades II Umbral Flames Build Guide -- Ygnium, All Aspects (Post-Launch Patch 2)
The item:umbral-flames, in-game name Ygnium, holds the highest room-clear burst in the post-1.0 meta on item:aspect-of-moros. Patch 2 leaves the weapon's burst ceiling intact: HookieDookie's World's First Surface clear sits at 65 Fear on the Moros Flames Ghost-Detonation loadout.
TL;DR
Aspect of Moros is the room-clear king at 65 Fear. Charge omega-special into a pack, mash attack, watch 5-10 stored ghost hits detonate for 1000+ DPS bursts. item:aspect-of-eos trades that burst for a sustained channel that snowballs over longer fights. The Hidden Aspect, item:aspect-of-supay, opens a second build path on the same weapon that runs distinct enough boon priorities to stand on its own. Every Umbral Flames build needs a magick-sustain anchor; whiffed omega-specials end runs.
Why Umbral Flames
Umbral Flames is the pure ranged caster of the six Nocturnal Arms. Movement-while-attacking is the signature: Melinoe keeps moving as she fires, and Specials orbit her to hold passive area pressure. The omega-special channel runs three seconds, hits a 400% AoE, and stores 5 to 10 ghost hits that fire on the next attack chain. Fast hits, smaller per-hit damage, magick-hungry scaling. Every flat-damage boon proc that lands on a single ghost hit lands on every other one in the volley.
All Aspects
Aspect of Melinoe (Default)
Modifier: Extended Omega Special burn duration. Best for: First runs on the weapon while you learn the channel rhythm.
The default aspect stretches the burn tick window on Omega Specials. It is a learning aspect, not a meta pick. Use it once or twice to get the omega-channel timing into muscle memory, then move to Moros.
Aspect of Moros (Standard)
Modifier: Stores ghost hits during omega-channel; mash attack to trigger 5-10 detonations. Best for: Highest room-clear burst in the post-1.0 meta. Meta build: Moros Flames Ghost-Detonation (65 Fear, HookieDookie-verified).
The Moros loadout layers attacks inside the omega-special's AoE, then lights the pack with the trigger. Hera Sworn Strike on Attack is the headline boon. It carries the burst because every ghost hit reads as a separate proc, so Hera's flat damage compounds across the volley. Zeus on Special, either Heaven Flourish or Blitz, delivers the second multiplicative axis on the orbit specials. Aphrodite Flutter Strike is the tested alternate when Hera is gone, and Apollo Pierce gives consistent ranged pressure when neither lands.
The 2026-04-14 rework reshaped Ares Doom math, but the live loadout still avoids Ares boons. Doom timers fight against the ghost-hit detonation pattern, and the HookieDookie 65-Fear clear runs Hestia Scorch on Special as the alternate path instead. Lucid Gain or Born Gain locks the magick economy in biome 2; without one, the omega-special channel starves before biome 3.
Aspect of Eos (Standard)
Modifier: Attacks grow stronger over time during sustained channel. Best for: Longer fights and bosses where the channel can stay open.
Eos sits in the consistency lane against Moros's burst. The aspect rewards channels that stay open through a full encounter: damage scales the longer the channel runs, so any boon that cuts magick cost stacks with the duration ramp. Hera flat damage and Apollo Pierce both work here, but the headline pairing is Apollo Lucid Gain to fund the channel plus Hestia Scorch to keep flat ticks landing while the ramp builds. Eos collapses against frequently-moving bosses (Chronos phase 1, Eris) for the same reason Circe does: the channel breaks too often to reach its damage ceiling.
Aspect of Supay (Hidden Aspect)
Modifier: Reroles the weapon mechanically rather than giving it a stat bump. Per the post-launch verification pass, the playstyle differs enough from Moros and Eos to merit its own boon path. Best for: Players who want a second build on the same weapon without relearning the omega-channel rhythm.
Supay's Hidden Aspect status puts it behind a steep unlock cost (Shadow x1, Marble x15) and shifts the weapon away from the ghost-detonation loop. The aspect rewards Hera global modifiers and percentage scaling sources rather than the flat-damage stack that carries Moros. Treat it as a third loadout to unlock once the Moros and Eos paths are familiar; the value is in the playstyle range it adds to the weapon, not in beating Moros at room-clear.
Daedalus Hammer Picks
Three hammer picks define every Umbral Flames build. Clean Coil extends the omega-channel by 50% and is the highest-priority pick on Moros because every additional second of channel stores another ghost hit. Sudden Burst speeds the windup by 50% so the channel finishes before high-Fear pack-density windows close. Furious Blaze adds 200% burn damage to detonations and turns the trigger volley into a single-hit kill on the first wave of every room. The rest of the pool is filler against these three.
Boon Synergies
Magick economy decides whether the build clears or dies. Plan a 30% magick cost reduction or roughly equivalent Gain support before biome 2; whiffed omega-specials cost runs at 50+ Fear. Lucid Gain (Apollo) is the universal answer because the 40-for-30 trade more than pays for the 30-Magick omega-special. Born Gain (Hera) is the per-god alternative when Apollo doesn't roll. Aphrodite Glamour Gain and Demeter Frigid Gain function but trail the first two on raw efficiency.
