How to Get Adamant in Hades 2: Farming Guide

By BrokenBuilds Wiki5 min readUpdated

TL;DR

Adamant only spawns on Mount Olympus, the third and final biome of the Surface route, and you can only mine it with the Crescent Pick. The fast way to farm it is not a secret room. Prioritize the Crescent Pick at the Training Grounds before you leave, bring item:raki the white raven as your familiar, and take the slow road up the mountain. The launchpad shortcut doors that skip rooms are the single biggest thing costing you Adamant. Each deposit you mine gives 3 Adamant, and a typical Olympus run yields one or two deposits.

What Adamant Is and Where It Comes From

Adamant is a gathering reagent, the same family of crafting materials you pick up across the Surface with your gathering tool. It sits at the harder end of the reagent ladder for one reason: it appears in exactly one place. Mount Olympus is the only biome where Adamant spawns. You will never find it in Erebus, Oceanus, or any underworld chamber, and it does not show up in the earlier Surface regions either.

Reaching Olympus means clearing the full Surface run. You climb through the Surface proper, the City of Ephyra, and the Rift of Thessaly before the mountain opens up, so Adamant farming is gated behind progress on the upward route rather than a one-off unlock you can rush.

Spotting a deposit is its own small challenge. Adamant reads as an orange crystal jutting out of a dark rock base, and it blends into the Olympus scenery well enough that players sprint right past it. Train your eye to the orange glint against black stone and you will stop leaving free material on the ground.

The yield math is simple. One deposit, mined, gives 3 Adamant. Spawns are random per chamber, so no single Olympus room is guaranteed to hold a deposit, and across a clean run you are usually looking at one or two of them. That scarcity is why the farming setup below matters so much: with this little supply per run, every wasted room is real loss.

How to Farm Adamant Fast

The whole farm comes down to three levers, and pulling all three at once is what turns a trickle into a stockpile.

Prioritize the Crescent Pick before the run. The Crescent Pick is the gathering tool that mines surface reagents, and you cannot harvest a single Adamant deposit without it. By the time normal progression carries you to Mount Olympus you will already have it unlocked. The real trick is at the Training Grounds: prioritize the Crescent Pick before you set out, which raises the odds that gatherable outcroppings, Adamant deposits among them, actually appear in each surface region. Players running with the pick prioritized have reported an Adamant chamber in five straight surface runs.

Bring item:raki. Raki, the white raven familiar, does double duty here. His presence makes outcroppings more likely to show up across the run, and when he turns up in a room he auto-farms 3 Adamant for you on sight, no mining required. Equipping him stacks more spawn chances on top of the Crescent Pick priority and hands you free material on the side. If you are weighing which companion to leash for a run like this, our familiars tier list ranks how each one earns its slot.

Skip the launchpad shortcuts. Some Olympus encounters offer a launchpad door that fires you up the mountain and pulls the Prometheus boss fight closer. It is tempting when you want a fast clear. For farming, it is the worst thing you can do. Every launchpad you take cuts rooms out of the run, and fewer rooms means fewer chances for Adamant to spawn. When you are grinding the material, take the long path and let the mountain run its full length.

Run all three together and a single Olympus loop turns into a reliable two-to-four Adamant per trip instead of the occasional lucky deposit.

What You Are Grinding It For

Adamant feeds three things worth chasing, and knowing them tells you how hard to push.

The item:black-coat, one of the Nocturnal Arms, is the headline. Adamant is part of what unlocks it, paired with Cinder, and it keeps mattering well past the unlock: leveling the Black Coat's Aspect of Melinoe draws on your Adamant supply as you push it toward its ceiling. If the Black Coat is on your wishlist, Adamant is a long-term investment, not a one-time payment. Once it is unlocked, our Black Coat build guide covers how to turn it into a run-winner.

Two incantations at the Cauldron also lean on it. Frozen Lifespring costs 3 Adamant and adds a Fountain Chamber to Mount Olympus, dropping a healing fountain into the exact biome where you spend the most time farming, which is a tidy bit of self-reinforcement. Eyes of Night and Darkness spends Adamant to start surfacing Moon Monuments and Unseen Sigils on the Surface route. Moon Monuments task you with beating a tough Elite for a reward, and Unseen Sigils ask you to clear an enemy group without taking a hit, both of which pay out extras on runs you were already taking.

Stack those uses up and the picture is clear. Adamant is one of the gates between you and the Black Coat, and it quietly powers the incantations that make the climb itself richer. Set up the Crescent Pick, leash Raki, walk the long road, and the stockpile builds itself.
