Hades II Aspect of Moros Build Guide -- Flames Ghost-Detonation, 65 Fear (Post-Launch Patch 2)

The highest room-clear burst in the post-1.0 meta belongs to Aspect of Moros on item:umbral-flames. HookieDookie's "World's First 65 Fear Moros Flames" surface clear is the proof point: charge omega-special into a pack, mash attack to fire 5 to 10 stored ghost hits, and the room ends.

TL;DR

Run item:aspect-of-moros on Umbral Flames (Ygnium). Channel the omega-special for 3 seconds inside a 400% AoE, then mash attack to detonate every stored ghost. On packed waves the burst clocks 1000+ DPS. The build is magick-hungry, so the spine is Hera Sworn Strike on attack plus Zeus on Special, with Lucid Gain or Born Gain locked by biome 2.

Why This Build Works

The omega-special channels for a full 3 seconds with a 400% AoE multiplier, painting the floor with primed flame stacks. Mashing attack while those stacks are live triggers 5 to 10 individual ghost detonations in rapid succession. Each detonation counts as its own hit, which means each one rolls every on-hit boon you have running. That single rule is the reason the build picks Hera Sworn Strike over any percentage-style attack boon. Sworn Strike adds a flat damage chunk per hit, and the ghost mash gives it 5 to 10 hits to ride on a single magick payment.

The cost is sustain. The omega-special burns roughly 30 magick per cycle. Without 30% magick cost reduction, or a Gain boon doing equivalent work, the build runs dry by the end of biome 2. Plan magick first, damage second.

Step-by-Step Rotation

Open Biome 1 with the Beautiful Mirror or Vivid Sea keepsake. Both feed magick regen, which keeps the early-room channel cycle alive before any Gain boon shows up. Reroll the first chamber if Hera, Zeus, Aphrodite, Apollo, or Hestia is not on offer.

Lock Hera Sworn Strike as the first headline boon. This is the build's damage anchor and it scales every ghost hit. Take Zeus on Special next, either Heaven Flourish or Blitz, which gives the ghost mash a chain-lightning rider. Aphrodite Flutter Strike, Apollo Pierce, or Hestia Scorch all work as the alternate Special path if Zeus dries up.

Lock magick sustain by biome 2. Apollo's Lucid Gain or Demeter's Born Gain are the two anchors. If you reach biome 3 without one, the channel cycle collapses on the first elite room. Adamant Shard belongs on the keepsake slot once Sworn Strike is in the bank.

Boss approach is mechanical. Pre-channel before the boss enters camera. The 3-second windup is the slowest part of the rotation, so start it during the cinematic or the entry pause. Mash attack on entry to land the detonation chain inside the first 2 seconds of the fight.

Ares was reworked in Post-Launch Patch 2 (2026-04-14). Profuse Bleeding now spawns a falling blade on Plasma collection, Sanguinary Savor was rebuilt from scratch, and Grievous Blow took a real numerical buff. The patch notes read well. Community sentiment did not move. Ares still sits at C, D, or F across most r/Hades2 polls run after the rework, and the live HookieDookie Mobalytics Moros build explicitly avoids the god. Ares Wounds are called out as "not very effective here" in the build's own boon-priority section. Ship the Hera plus Zeus plus Aphrodite spine and let other aspects experiment with the Ares rebuild.

Arcana Loadout

The 7-card spread is item:the-sorceress, item:the-wayward-son, item:persistence, item:death, item:origination, item:night, and item:the-champions.

Sorceress and Wayward Son scale the magick economy that funds the channel. Persistence keeps Death Defiance alive through the inevitable whiffed cycle. Death pays for itself on the boss kills the build is built around. Origination is the build's hidden multiplier, but it requires two curse types active before it switches on, so plan the curse picks early. Night layers chip damage onto every ghost detonation, which compounds against the 5-to-10-hit mash. Champions sits in the slot purely for the raw damage band on the flat boons Hera is already providing.

Keepsake Rotation by Biome

Beautiful Mirror or Vivid Sea opens the run. Both pay magick into the early channel cycle before Lucid Gain or Born Gain is available. item:adamant-shard follows once Sworn Strike is locked, granting the cast pool the channel quietly leans on. item:calling-card takes the third slot for the boon-rarity bump heading into biome 3, where the Pierce or Scorch alternate Special path tends to roll. item:engraved-pin closes the rotation for the boss biome, locking a final Hera or Zeus rare to push the detonation damage band over the 1000 DPS line.

Hammer Picks

Three hammer rolls stack cleanly onto the build. Clean Coil extends the channel by 50%, which is the highest-impact pick because it directly grows the AoE window the ghost mash exploits. Sudden Burst speeds the windup by 50%, cutting the 3-second pre-channel down to about 1.5 seconds and turning hard rooms into one-cycle clears. Furious Blaze adds 200% burn damage on every detonation, giving the ghost mash a 4-second damage-over-time tail that finishes whatever the burst does not.

If a single Daedalus chamber rolls all three, the build is closed.

Boss-Specific Tips

Chronos phase 2 punishes channel commitment. Drop the channel before he teleports, then mash attack the instant he reappears. The ghost stacks survive the teleport, so the burst still lands.

Polyphemus is the perfect channel target. He holds still through every heavy attack windup, which is exactly long enough to fit a full 3-second channel and a follow-up mash without rolling out.

Typhon's roar windup is the second free channel window. The roar does no damage during the wind, and his hitbox is locked in place. Channel through the roar, mash on the recovery frame.

Headmistress Hecate punishes greedy openers, so the Moros opener is a dodge first, then channel during her wand-spin recovery. The recovery frames are long enough for a full channel and the first mash before her next cast.

Common Mistakes

Whiffing the omega-special. The channel costs 30+ magick whether or not it lands on a target. A whiffed channel inside biome 3 is often the run-killer that ends a Fear push. Pre-position before starting the channel.

Running Ares boons "for the bleed." The patch made Ares more interesting in the abstract, but the math on this aspect still does not pay back the picks. Skip the god entirely.

Skipping Lucid Gain or Born Gain. The build collapses in biome 3 without a magick anchor. Take the Gain boon at common rarity if that is what rolls; do not gamble on a later rare.
