Expedition 33 Trophy and Achievement Guide

All 56 trophies, the missable list you need to clear in the Prologue, and the Endless Tower platinum path

By BrokenBuilds Wiki9 min read

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has 56 trophies on PlayStation, mirrored by the same set of Steam achievements: 1 Platinum, 2 Gold, 5 Silver, and 48 Bronze. There are no difficulty-locked trophies. Story Mode runs the full list, and a clean playthrough plus the Endless Tower clear plus Simon clears the Platinum. The catch is the Prologue: a small handful of trophies have to be picked up before Sophie's Gommage scene closes the festival, and missing any of them locks the run until New Game Plus.

This guide is the roadmap. Run the missable checklist first, then the main path, then the postgame.

Roadmap at a Glance

PhaseGoalTrophies Earned
Prologue (Lumière)Complete every missable before Sophie's GommageA Peculiar Encounter, foundation for Connoisseur and Follow the Trail
Acts 1 to 3Story progression, optional zones, relationship 7 with companionsAll location trophies, character relationships, Paintress, Overcharge, Synergy and similar mechanic trophies
Postgame setupEndless Tower, Painting Workshop, Monoco mask farmEndless, Clea, Noir et Blanc, Feet Collection
Final clearDefeat Simon in the AbyssPeace At Last, Platinum

The order matters because some achievements have hard cutoffs at Act boundaries. Gustave's Overcharge trophy locks at the end of Act 1. Maelle relationship gating triggers in Act 2. Old Key for the Survivor journal closes at the end of the Prologue.

The Missable List (Read Before Doing Anything)

Five trophies (or pieces of trophies) are gated by points of no return. Editorial sources disagree on the exact count because some chains are partially recoverable in New Game Plus. The conservative read is that all five live on the Prologue-to-Act-2 timeline, and any of them you skip costs you a second playthrough.

A Peculiar Encounter (Bronze)

Defeat the Mime in Lumière during the Prologue. From the stage where children perform, walk east. The Mime is standing alone. Fight and defeat it. The trophy fires immediately, and the encounter also drops the Lumière music record (which feeds the Connoisseur trophy below). Once Sophie's Gommage cutscene plays, the Mime is gone for this save.

If you miss it, you can earn the trophy in New Game Plus by defeating the Mime there, then loading your earlier save to keep your progress. Cleaner to grab it on the first run.

Old Key (Required for Follow the Trail)

During the Lumière Festival, trade a Festival Token to Colette (the lady in blue) for the Old Key. The key unlocks a gate later in the run that contains the Survivor journal. Without that journal, the Follow the Trail trophy (find all 33 expedition journals) cannot complete.

The token trade has to happen during the Festival. Once Gommage triggers, the merchant is gone.

Lumière Record (Required for Connoisseur)

The Connoisseur trophy demands all 33 music records. The Lumière record drops only from the Prologue Mime fight. If you miss the Mime in the Prologue, the record is recoverable by fighting the Mime again in the final area of the game and picking up a duplicate copy, but only the Mime fight itself drops it.

Lettre à Maelle Record (Required for Connoisseur)

After defeating the first Axon (Sirène or Visages, whichever you do first), return to camp and select "Check up on the others" in the campfire dialogue menu. The optional scene rewards the Lettre à Maelle music record. Skip the scene and the record is gone.

The Curious bronze trophy fires for witnessing the camp scene at all, so this single dialogue choice clears two trophies at once.

Maelle Relationship to Level 7

The Maelle bronze trophy requires hitting relationship level 7. Maelle's relationship gate is dialogue-sensitive: when she asks Gustave a critical question in Act 1, choose to tell the truth. Lying caps her relationship and blocks the trophy.

Aiding the Enemy (Nevron Quests)

Some side quests in the post-Lumière world come from White Nevrons (the friendly variants). Killing a White Nevron before completing its quest blocks the chain. The Aiding the Enemy bronze trophy needs every Nevron quest finished, so check the questline before fighting any white-coloured Nevron.

Story Progression Trophies

These auto-unlock as the campaign progresses. No special action is required beyond playing through Acts 1 to 3.

Location trophies (10 bronze). Lumière, Spring Meadows, Flying Waters, Ancient Sanctuary, Gestral Village, Esquie's Nest, Stone Wave Cliffs, Forgotten Battlefield, Monoco's Station, and Old Lumière. Each one fires the first time you reach the named zone. Spring Meadows is the first one outside the Prologue.

Story milestones. Expedition 33 (unlock all party characters), Legend (recruit Esquie), First Axon, Second Axon, Monolith, Back to Lumière, and The End. The End covers the main story credits roll.

Paintress (Gold). The penultimate story boss. Build any of the meta party compositions before the fight. Stain Pressure Core (Maelle, Lune, Sciel) handles her cleanly with an opener Stendhal cast and Lune fire priming. Triple DPS works if your parries are clean.

Collectible Trophies

Five collectible trophies, two with missable components handled above.

Follow the Trail (Bronze). Find all 33 expedition journals scattered across the world. Requires the Old Key picked up during the Prologue Festival to unlock the Survivor journal. Most journals sit in obvious chests inside main-path zones; the rest are in optional alcoves, post-boss rooms, and the manors of Old Lumière.

Lost Gestrals (Bronze). Find every Lost Gestral hiding around the world. They turn up in side rooms in zones already on the main path, plus a few in optional regions. None are time-gated.

Connoisseur (Bronze). Collect all 33 music records. The Lumière record (Mime) and Lettre à Maelle (camp scene) are missable; the rest can be returned to until you find them.

Paint Cage (Bronze). Break a Paint Cage. You will hit one in normal exploration well before the trophy can possibly be relevant.

Gestral Games (Bronze). Win every Gestral minigame in the village.

Character Relationship Trophies

Reach relationship level 7 with each of: Sciel, Monoco, Maelle, Lune, and Esquie. Five bronzes total.

Relationship growth comes from optional camp dialogue and from companion-specific side conversations after major story beats. Esquie's relationship grows from exploring with him as a vehicle. Monoco's grows from running him in the active party. Sciel and Lune both have campfire dialogue chains that need to be cleared. Maelle is the missable-tagged one (see above).

The path is straightforward: spend time at camp between main-path bosses, exhaust every dialogue option, and run each character in the active party for at least a stretch of the game.

Combat and Mechanic Trophies

These ten trophies test specific combat patterns. Some are easy, some demand deliberate setups.

TrophyCharacterSetup
OverchargeGustaveBuild to 10 charges via Lumière Assault and basic attacks, cast Overcharge to Break an enemy. Act 1 only
SynergyMaelleCast Percée on a Marked enemy while in Virtuose Stance
Perfect FlowLuneConsume Stains for four consecutive turns
MaximisationScielConsume 20 Foretell on a single target during Twilight
PerfectionVersoReach Rank S in a single battle
Wheel ControlMonocoCast an Upgraded Skill four turns in a row
LuminaAnySpend a Lumina point. Trivial
Time to Spill Some InkAnyBreak any enemy. Trivial
Chroma ProficiencyAnyUse a level 3 Gradient Attack
ProfessionalAnyDefeat a boss without taking any damage

Professional is the hardest of the set. The cleanest target is an early Act 1 boss: equip parry-focused pictos, run a single character into the fight, and parry every attack. Solo Maelle with item:second-chance as a safety net is the standard recommendation.

Level Trophies

  • Expeditioner (Bronze). Reach level 33.
  • Trailbreaker (Bronze). Reach level 66.
  • Survivor (Silver). Reach level 99.

Survivor is the grind. By the time the Endless Tower opens, you should be in the high 70s or low 80s. The Endless Tower itself feeds enough XP to push from 80 to 99 inside the postgame loop, and the Tower's higher floors require the level scaling anyway.

Weapon and System Trophies

Weapon Upgrade (Bronze). Upgrade any weapon once. Trivial as soon as Reflective Chroma starts dropping.

Weapon Mastery (Bronze). Fully upgrade any weapon to level 33. Requires substantial Chroma and Wandering Lights. Most builds run their main DPS weapon to 33 by mid-Act-3 anyway.

Plane, Train, and Submarine (Bronze). Discover all of Esquie's traversal abilities. Story-progressed; the trophy fires when the last form unlocks.

The Endless Tower and Postgame Silvers

The Endless Tower opens after the main story. Five silver-tier achievements feed off the postgame loop.

Endless (Silver). Reach the top floor of the Endless Tower. The Tower scales aggressively, so a maxed weapon, item:painted-power, and a tuned party are all in scope.

Clea (Silver). Defeat Clea. She lives at the top of the Endless Tower as a postgame superboss.

Noir et Blanc (Silver). Solve the Painting Workshop mystery. The mystery spans three locations, and resolving it triggers a Lampmaster encounter; the trophy unlocks on the kill.

Feet Collection (Silver). Acquire every one of Monoco's Nevron skills. Monoco learns skills by defeating specific Nevrons, marked in combat by a foot icon. The full collection runs roughly 50 skills, and several Nevrons live in optional zones plus the Endless Tower.

Aiding the Enemy (Bronze). Complete every Nevron quest. The chain runs from mid-Act-1 through postgame.

The Final Boss and the Platinum

Peace At Last (Gold). Defeat Simon in the Abyss. Simon is the post-Endless secret boss. The fight rewards the second Gold trophy and is the true endpoint of the run. Build for raw single-target damage: Painted Power on, Augmented First Strike active, Solo Maelle with Stendhal opener or Stain Pressure Core if you want party utility for the Simon adds phase.

The Greatest Expedition in History (Platinum). Awards on the 55th non-Platinum trophy. Average completion time across thorough runs is 60 to 80 hours, and the missable checklist is what kills 100% completion most often. Clear the Prologue cleanly, run the main story, build out the Endless Tower, and finish on Simon.
